ONGC appoints JP Kenny for Mumbai High FPSO

Vol 9, PW 11 (08 Sep 05) News in Brief

ONGC has appointed JP Kenny for advice on a Floating Production and Storage facility at Mumbai High.

We hear the appointment was made early this month. JP Kenny will advise ONGC on the specifications of the FPSO, its placement and other parameters.

The specifications are expected to be ready within a month, following which ONGC will float a tender. ONGC has already received Expressions of Interest from four companies.

Broadly, ONGC wants a FPSO that can handle a minimum 100, 000 b/d liquids: half oil, the rest water for injection. ONGC believes about 250 FPSOs are available the world over and that it should not be difficult to hire one that meet its specifications.

FPSOs are available to handle 250,00 b/d liquids, we are told. A large number of these are offshore West Africa.

ONGC wants a FPSO at Mumbai High as a temporary replacement for the BHN platform that was destroyed by fire on 27th July.
