Reliance completes geo-tech survey at KG-DWN-98/3

Vol 9, PW 11 (08 Sep 05) News in Brief

Reliance has completed its geo-technical survey of sub-sea soil conditions at KG-DWN-98/3, paving the way for field development.

We learn the two-month survey ended in late August with the de-mobilisation of the Bavenit, a class 2 purpose-built deepwater scientific drilling vessel from Fugro of Singapore. Final analysis of the samples is expected shortly, but first indications are good.

Reliance shouldnt have any problem with its development, we learn. The next step is a tender for manifolds and sub-sea development systems.

Uncertainty continues over the development timetable for KG-DWN-98/3, compounded by Reliances failure to sign a gas contract with NTPC. In October 2002, Reliance announced a 14-tcf discovery at KG-DWN-98/3 and later agreed a burner tip price of $2.97 per mmbtu with NTPC.

A deadline agreed by both Reliance and NTPC to sign a contract passed off uneventfully on 15th August.
