GSPC looks to replace Singh and Johri

Vol 17, PW 18 (24 Apr 14) News in Brief

GSPC is on the look-out for suitably qualified candidates to replace its director operations and president of field services after the two resigned in quick succession last month (March).

Director operations Padam Singh is rumoured to have left over differences of opinion with NK Mitra - the company’s COO since last year. Singh and Mitra have a long history of squabbles with Singh leaving ONGC for Reliance in 2006 to get away from Mitra who was then ONGC director offshore.

As luck would have it Mitra joined Reliance after retiring from ONGC. Singh then left Reliance for GSPC in May 2012, only to be followed over by Mitra one year later.

GSPC president field services Rakesh Johri, who joined in December 2009, also resigned last month because of health problems after suffering a massive paralytic attack. But new appointments will have to wait for general elections to end on May 16 and the lift on public policy restrictions.
