SK Srivastava stays at DGH

SK Srivastava can expect to receive a letter confirming his full five-year appointment as DGH director general by next month (June).

PETROWATCH learns Srivastava’s file is on its way to the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, for signature. “The file has been sent to the cabinet secretariat,” confirmed a Department of Personnel and Training source on May 18, “and will be sent to the members of the ACC ‘by circulation.

’ It should be signed within four weeks.” On January 28, a panel headed by cabinet secretary KM Chandrasekhar declared Srivastava its top choice after interviews.

But surprisingly the DOPT then extended Srivastava’s term as acting DGH chief for six months only from April. “I think the oil ministry has now realised Srivastava is the best choice,” adds our source.

Srivastava was appointed interim DGH chief on November 1 last year after his predecessor VK Sibal was denied an extension.
