BPRL to test 2 wells in Gujarat

Vol 20, PW 16 (04 May 17) News in Brief

Bharat PetroResources (BPRL) is planning further completions and testing of at least two wells at its 42-sq km CB-ONN-2010/8 block in Gujarat.

On April 25, BPRL floated three oilfield services tenders for a 100-tonne workover rig, slick line and nitrogen pumping services with a May 26 bid deadline. Anyone interested will quote for two wells - possibly rising to four.

"Log data from five wells drilled is under evaluation," BPRL tells us. "Based on well data interpretation we will decide which needs a workover, testing or completion; or we might plug and abandon if prospects are poor." A 1000-hp Essar rig is presently drilling Pasunia-6 - the last of BPRL's six-well commitment which it expects to complete this month (May).

Deep Industries, Shiv Vani, Quippo, John Energy, GTC Oilfield and JayBee Energy are among companies expected to show interest in the workover rig tender where BPRL can expect rates of around Rs2 lakh/day ($3000/day) depending on location and equipment specs. In April last year (2016) well Pasunia-1 encountered a two-metre oil column at a depth of 1700 metres.

Vadod-1, its third well, was dry.
