BPRL plans rapid Cambay block development

Vol 20, PW 19 (15 Jun 17) Exploration & Production

BPCL's upstream arm Bharat Petro Resources (BPRL) is moving fast to develop a series of discoveries at onland Gujarat block CB-ONN-2010/8 - where it has enjoyed beginner's luck with its maiden exploration programme as operator.

BPRL wants to hire a technical consultant to prepare a Field Development Plan for this 42-sq km onland Cambay basin block and is simultaneously gearing up to workover and test up to four wells - two 'firm' and two 'optional'. Anyone interested in the technical consultant tender has until June 19 to bid.

"Whoever wins will help us understand the facilities needed so we can prepare the FDP along with cost estimates (CAPEX+OPEX) for further approval from the DGH," a BPRL source tells us. BPRL also floated five oilfield service tenders on May 31 for wireline logging, surface well testing, drilling fluids, cementation and waste management services.

Here bids are due by June 30. Likely bidders for surface well testing include Halliburton, Schlumberger, Almansoori Petroleum Services, Superior Energy Services, Expro and Techno Canada, according to BPRL sources.

For drilling fluids, the likely competitors are Halliburton subsidiary Baroid, Baker Hughes, Weatherford, Schlumberger company MI-Swaco and QMax Solutions. By May 2017, BPRL had drilled four exploratory wells and two appraisal wells.

Of these, it tested and completed three wells and reported discoveries at Pasunia-1 and Pasunia-2.
