Former ONGC director (exploration) SV Rao is set to join the GSPC group as a chief adviser.

“Rao is joining us soon,” says a senior GSPC official. “We have sent an offer letter to him.

” Rao became ONGC director exploration on February 25, 2011 and retired on March 31 this year. He will join GSPC at the same rate as his final salary at ONGC.

“We want a hardcore exploration man,” adds GSPC. “Rao has over 35 years’ experience covering everything from field exploration to site investigation and geological and geophysical assessment.

” A reserved scientist who prefers to keep a low profile, Rao was previously basin manager of ONGC’s western offshore assets and chief of exploration and development across its offshore blocks. In March this year ONGC’s former offshore director and ex-Reliance chief of technical services NK Mitra also joined GSPC as chief operating officer, overseeing the offshore Deen Dayal West project in the KG block off Andhra Pradesh.
