ONGC chairman suspense over soon

Vol 17, PW 2 (22 Aug 13) News in Brief

NK Verma, ONGC director exploration, has been dropped from a shortlist of 10 candidates to be interviewed for the ONGC chairman post.

Verma replaced SV Rao as director exploration on April 1 (2013) and was a serious contender but doesn’t qualify as he lacks the minimum one year as an ONGC director. The following eight will appear for PESB interviews on August 30: favourites BC Tripathi, CMD of GAIL, Shashi Shankar ONGC director technical and DK Sarraf, MD at OVL; followed by less prominent candidates Central Coalfields chairman Gopal Singh; CIL director (personnel and industrial relations) R.

Mohan Das; Northern Railways chief mechanical engineer Ashwani Lohani; Omkar Rai, DG of Software Technology; and MS Rana, CMD of stamp paper printer SPMCIL. OVL director finance SP Garg was also not shortlisted.

Still unclear is if Chennai Petroleum director operations S. Venkataramana had applied or not.
