Red carpet for Purwaha at EIL

Newly appointed Engineers India chairman Ashok Kumar Purwaha tells this report he needs time to settle down before he shares his vision for the company he took over on October 1.

“It’s only my second day in office,â€‌ said Purwaha on October 3. “Give me two weeks to settle down and then we can talk.

â€‌ PETROWATCH learns Purwaha received formal orders confirming his appointment on September 30. At 11:30am on October 1, he arrived at the EIL office in Delhi’s Bhikaji Cama area, a few short steps from the GAIL office next door, where he worked as director business development.

“He was greeted by all the directors and executive directors on his arrival,â€‌ said an eyewitness. On October 5, Purwaha was â€کformally’ welcomed to EIL with a function held at the company’s head office attended by all board members and 1000 to 1500 staff.

Purwaha is expected to stay at EIL till September 2014 when he reaches the mandatory retirement age of 60.
