Jubilant starts testing Tripura well

Vol 12, PW 3 (26 Jun 08) News in Brief

Jubilant Energy has begun testing the first of its three Phase-I commitment wells at NELP-IV block AA-ONN-2002/1 in Tripura.

Drilled to TD of 3262 metres, PETROWATCH learns the well was perforated on (Friday) June 19. We hear Jubilant plans to carry out conventional testing of the first zone followed by a DST at the second zone.

All eyes will be on results from this gas-prone block given its proximity to nearby ONGC producing assets at Agartala Dome and Baramura. “Testing will be carried out over the next ten days,â€‌ we hear.

“Results could come in at any time.â€‌ Earlier this year Jubilant hired a 2000-hp rig from Dubai-based ETA-ASCON on a contract to drill three â€کfirm’ and two â€کoptional’ wells.

Jubilant will drill another two wells over the next six months at this 1680-sq km block, where it has won a Phase-I extension till October this year. Operator Jubilant (20%) and GAIL (80%) signed a PSC in June 2004, committing three wells in Phase-I, two in Phase-II and two in Phase-III.
