AK Jain will be new joint secretary gas

Anil Kumar Jain is likely to be appointed joint secretary gas to replace Ajay Tyagi whose time in Delhi ends on 12th November.

Jains name is with the department of personnel from where it will go to cabinet secretary BK Chaturvedi and then to the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet. Once the ACC made up of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, oil minister Murli Deora and home minister Shivraj Patil approves Jains name, orders will be issued for his appointment.

Jain joined the oil ministry as director gas in 2003 and has been promoted to joint secretary. Jain is with the Indian Administrative Service since 1986 from Madhya Pradesh and his five-year Delhi tenure ends on 29th June 2008.

Ravi Capoor, another director since 2003, has also been promoted to joint secretary. Capoor will be secretary to the Oil Industry Development Board, whose present secretary Sam Bobb is in a hurry to return to his home state Andhra Pradesh.
