Vol 3, PW 14 (04 Aug 99) News in Brief

Avinash Chandra of Indias Directorate General of Hydrocarbons is expected to promote the prospectivity of Indian exploration acreage at a conference in Britain just one month after the August 18th deadline for submission of bids under the New Exploration Licensing Policy (NELP).

This report learns Chandra will deliver a speech entitled: "New seismic data reveals large deepwater prospects on the east coast of India", at a conference in Birmingham between September 12-15th, organised by the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG). The irony of Chandras visit so soon after what is expected to be a lukewarm response to NELP has not been lost on companies active in India.
