A three-member team from Canada's east coast province New Brunswick visited Gujarat in early December to tie up customers for Canadian gas and heavy crude oil.

According to a consultant for the Canadian team, Adani Gas, Swan Energy and Aditya Birla Group are talking to New Brunswick about sourcing LNG from the proposed Saint John city LNG terminal, likely to be commissioned by 2016. Oil is also available for Gujarat's refineries from TransCanada's 1.1m b/d west to east pipeline.

New Brunswick energy minister Craig Leonard, economic development minister Bruce Fitch and Robert Macleod, president & CEO of Invest NB, which promotes investment in the province, met Gujarat energy minister Saurabh Patel, energy secretary DJ Pandian and GSPC managing director Tapan Ray. Speaking to PETROWATCH, the Canadian trio described their meetings as "productive.

" They later travelled to Delhi to meet oil minister Veerappa Moily.
