Deepwater drillship Sagar Vijay has spudded another well for ONGC in the Krishna Godavari basin.

On 13th June the Transocean Sedco Forex operated drillship lowered the Blow Out Preventor at the GD-AA location in water depths of693 metres. Sagar Vijay anchored at GD-AA on June 7th and the foundation casings were completed by June 13th.

Completion of the 3,000-metre well will take between 60 and 63 days. When complete, Sedco Forex returns the rig to ONGC, which has issued an end-June tender deadline for senior personnel to replace Sedco.

ONGC has shortlisted three further drilling locations in the vicinity: one in the Krishna region and two in Godavari.
