Assam, Nagaland and Tripura could soon see the construction of captive power plants under an agreement between ONGC and the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

Raghu Modi, President, ASSOCHAM, tells Petrowatch both sides are working on the details of an MoU to capitalise on the vast quantities of natural gas that are flared in these three gas-rich states. Modi adds that many of ASSOCHAM's constituents have expertise in power plant construction and are keen to harness the potential of flared gas in the three states.

The MoU is scheduled for signing by ONGC chairman Subir Raha and Modi in the next two months.
