Vol 5, PW 9 (20 Jun 01) News in Brief

Kuwait Petroleum is closing its office at the Radisson Hotel in Delhi and re-locating to Mumbai.

Country manager Malek A.Barakat has already left Delhi for Kuwait after a stay of approximately 18 months.

A company spokesperson tells Petrowatch Barakat's replacement will assume charge of the new Mumbai office when it opens in mid-September. Kuwait Petroleum denies rumours that it is closing its India operation entirely and says Mumbai is a better location than Delhi as it can coordinate vessels and the loading of crude oil.

Kuwait Petroleum supplies crude oil to both Indian Oil and Reliance Petroleum but denies it wants equity in Indian refinery projects.
