Sankarlingam to be new NTPC chairman:

NTPC projects director Thyagarajan Sankarlingam is set to become the new company CMD from 1st April when the present chairman CP Jain retires.

Sankarlingam will hold the CMD post for the next two years. It was decided to appoint him CMD in mid-December following interviews with sixteen candidates, among them NTPC director technical RK Jain, NTPC director commercial RS Sharma and NTPC director operations Chandan Roy.

A formal announcement on Sankarlingams appointment will be made when cabinet ratifies his appointment. A graduate in electrical engineering, Sankarlingam has been associated with NTPC for 27 years in different capacities.

Before joining NTPC, he worked with Bharat Heavy Electricals and Tamil Nadu Electricity Board. He was appointed director projects at NTPC in August 2001.
