DK Sarraf praises K. Satyanarayana

Vol 19, PW 21 (30 Jun 16) News in Brief

There was a time when OPaL chief K.

Satyanarayana was under close scrutiny and investigation for his involvement in an alleged recruitment scam at ONGC that almost ruined his reputation and career. But no more.

On June 18 ONGC chairman DK Sarraf went a long way in rehabilitating Satyanarayana with lavish praise and a glowing endorsement during a day-long visit to the yet-to-be commissioned OPaL complex at Dahej accompanied by several colleagues. "You have successfully overcome all hurdles," said Sarraf, according to an OPaL source present.

"Because of your determined efforts this huge project is now close to commissioning." Sarraf chaired a PRC (Project Review Meeting) after visiting several facilities at the complex including the Dual Feed Cracker Unit (DFCU), Atmospheric Unit (AU), HDPE, polypropylene and central control units (CCR), flare, gantry, naphtha terminal, tank farm and the central laboratory. Satyanarayana was appointed OPaL chief in 2014 after ONGC refused to confirm him as director onshore following his failure to secure CVC clearance.
