Neeraj replaces Manu

Vol 14, PW 25 (16 Jun 11) News in Brief

In the oil ministry Neeraj Mittal took additional charge as director gas pricing on June 11, replacing Manu Srivastava who completed his five-year term in Delhi.

Mittal, the oil ministry’s 43-year-old director pricing and supply, will hold the post temporarily until the DoPT (Department of Personnel & Training) selects Srivastava’s replacement. “We asked the DoPT in March to send a replacement,” reports an oil ministry source.

“But they still haven’t sent anybody.” A bright cookie, Mittal joined the IAS in 1992 from Tamil Nadu and holds a PhD in Management Information Systems from Ohio University in the US.

He was private secretary to minister of state for commerce and industry Jyotiraditya Scindia, before joining the oil ministry in December 2010. In his current role Mittal oversees the pricing of diesel, LPG, kerosene and crude oil imports.

Srivastava meanwhile was given a rousing farewell party on June 10 by colleagues in the office of ministry special secretary PK Sinha.
