Gujarat Petronet extends network

Gujarat State Petronet is aggressively extending its pipeline network outside Gujarat and across India.

PETROWATCH learns that on September 14 Gujarat Petronet filed an application with the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board to set up a 1600-km long pipeline from Hazira on the western coast of India to Paradip port in Orissa on the eastern coast. This was followed by another application on September 30 to set up a pipeline network in the Tarapur industrial estate of the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation.

Gujarat Petronet has already filed applications for a 1460-km long pipeline from Andhra Pradesh to Rajasthan, a 973-km pipeline from Gujarat to Punjab, and another 447-km pipeline from Punjab to Jammu and Kashmir. Within Gujarat, the company has completed 1370-km of its 2200-km proposed state gas grid and company sources tell us work continues at a fast pace on the remaining five different sections to add another 448-km.
