Reliance consolidates E&P office

Vol 13, PW 10 (22 Oct 09) News in Brief

Reliance is thinking of integrating its onshore and offshore exploration divisions under one roof in Mumbai.

Exploration activities at seven onshore and five CBM blocks are currently controlled from the Ahmedabad office that Reliance has occupied since 2006, and were previously controlled from Naroda outside Ahmedabad – that office began operations in the 1960s. “We are thinking about moving to Mumbai,â€‌ confirms a senior company source.

Other Reliance sources tell us the plans are definite and the company will have moved staff to Mumbai by end-November. In fact staff should have already moved by now, but were too busy supervising exploratory drilling at NELP-V block CB-ONN-2003/1 in Gujarat that has been ongoing since early August.

This move will also mean that Jayant Parimal, head of the CBM business currently based in Ahmedabad and the captive power business based in Mumbai, will no longer have to shuttle between the two cities.
