Another 50 CNG stations in Gujarat

Vol 12, PW 14 (27 Nov 08) News in Brief

GSPC gas retail subsidiary GSPC Gas plans to open 50 new CNG stations by March 31 next year.

GSPC Gas currently sells CNG through 23 stations across Gujarat selling an average 5000-kg/day from each. Last month, GSPC Gas signed deals with state-owned Indian Oil, BPCL and HPCL to use their petrol stations for new CNG outlets at Saurashtra and central and south Gujarat.

“The majority of these stations would be â€کdaughter’ stations fed through mobile CNG cascades (stacks of cylinders) carried on trucks,â€‌ GSPC Gas chief PPG Sarma tells PETROWATCH. The sales target for these new stations, said another GSPC Gas source, is 3000-kg/day to 4000-kg/day in the first year.

GSPC Gas plans another 100 CNG stations in 2009-10 to extensively cover the state. GSPC Gas sells CNG at Rs28/kg across the state but in Hazira it sells at Rs25.50/kg.

Why the difference “Hazira was our pilot project so we have a special attachment to customers there,â€‌ says the company.
