Alpha Geo seismic shoot for Naftogaz

Vol 11, PW 18 (24 Jan 08) News in Brief

Hyderabad-based Alpha Geo has begun shooting seismic across the 75-sq km onshore NELP-VI block CB-ONN-2004/5 in the Cambay Basin, where operator Naftogaz of Ukraine holds 10%.

Last month the Naftogaz-led consortium of Adani Enterprises (35%), Adani Port (20%) and Welspun (35%) issued Alpha the LoI to carry out its Phase-I work commitment of 90-lkm 2D and 75-sq km 3D. By January 15, Alpha had mobilised all the equipment on site and the following day held a small â€کpuja’ - a Hindu prayer ceremony to please the elements.

“Alpha will start the 3D after finishing the 2D,â€‌ we hear. Alpha is confident it can finish the job in three months.

Naftogaz won the block in NELP-VI against rival bids from ONGC and GSPC after committing nine wells in its four-year Phase-I beginning March 2 last year when it signed the PSC. Consortium sources tell us CB-ONN-2004/5 is an oil-prone block that is â€کon trend’ with HOEC’s â€کPramoda’ discoveries at CB-ON/7.
