Fysh for Dasgupta at Petronet-LNG

Vol 11, PW 15 (29 Nov 07) News in Brief

British Gas is trying to make inroads with Petronet-LNG.

How else to explain a written request to meet Petronet-LNG managing director Prosad Dasgupta from one of BG’s most senior executives based in the UK PETROWATCH learns that Stuart Fysh, BG Group Executive Vice President and Managing Director for Africa, Middle East and Asia, this month wrote to Dasgupta requesting a meeting. Fysh, along with other international oil and gas high flyers, is in Hyderabad this weekend to attend a raucous industry â€کlove-in’ organised by Upstream.

Contacted by PETROWATCH, a BG source confirms: “If Stuart comes to Delhi, he might meet many people, including GAIL, IOC and Petronet-LNG.â€‌ Unclear is if Fysh’s request to meet Dasgupta has been accepted.

In the late 90s BG was the first company in India to identify Pipavav for a proposed LNG regassification terminal but later shelved the idea. In the past it has sold spot LNG cargoes to Petronet-LNG and no doubt wants to sell more.
