JP Kenny screens Cairn pipeline EoIs

Vol 11, PW 7 (09 Aug 07) News in Brief

Cairn India might be still talking to the oil ministry over a crude pipeline from its fields in Rajasthan, but this hasn’t stopped the company beginning preparatory work on the ground.

PETROWATCH learns Cairn has hired JP Kenny as its FEED consultant and that Kenny is presently evaluating up to 20 companies who submitted Expressions of Interest in response to a Cairn tender published on June 11th for an EPC contractor to lay the 585-km crude pipeline from the Mangala oilfield to Salaya on the Gujarat coast. Cairn asked companies to respond within ten days, or by June 21st.

“JP Kenny is still evaluating the EoIs,â€‌ confirms Cairn. “It should send its recommendations in another 10 or 15 days.

When JP Kenny’s recommendations come in we will invite selected companies to bid for the tender.â€‌ Cairn expects to invite bidders for the limited tender by the end of this month.

Essar is one of the interested companies but L&T/Valdel will not bid as it has too much work.
