Two new GAIL directors from 1st November

GAIL will get two new directors from 1st November.

AK Purwaha will take charge as director planning and business development when BS Negi retires on 31st October. SK Bajpai will take over as director projects when acting CMD SP Rao retires on 31st October.

Purwaha was previously managing director of Mahanagar Gas, a GAIL joint venture with British Gas and the government of Maharashtra, and is presently killing time as officer on special duty at GAIL HQ in Delhi awaiting his promotion to director. Born on 8th May 1955, Purwaha joined GAIL in 1985.

His appointment will be for five years but he can stay on till 31st May 2015 and retirement at 60, if the government extends his tenure. Bajpai was born on 1st July 1949 and joined GAIL in 1986.

He retires on 31st July 2009 when he will be 60. Bajpai is executive director projects and is personally overseeing the completion of the long-awaited Dahej to Uran and Dabhol to Panvel gas pipelines.
