Reliance appoints Yemen and Oman manager

Reliance Industries has appointed a new country head for its exploration and production assets in Yemen and Oman.

PETROWATCH learns Dr. Ravi Mallick, aged 47, assumed charge as head of Yemen and Oman operations at Reliances office in Mumbai on 14th September.

Before joining Reliance, Mallick was heading exploration at Jubilant Oil & Gas in Delhi. He joined Jubilant six years ago from Oil India where he worked for 18 years.

Mallick will be based in Mumbai and will report to Atul Chandra, former MD of OVL, and now in charge of Reliances overseas division. Mallicks job profile at Reliance will be to oversee exploration, production and development of its Yemen and Oman blocks.

On 12th March 2005, Reliance (100% and operator) was awarded offshore Block 18 in the Gulf of Oman where it is now acquiring 3D. In 2002, Reliance farmed into onshore Block 9 in Yemen where it now has 25% and where production is likely to touch 20,000 b/d.
