Vol 9, PW 21 (09 Feb 06) News in Brief

Considered a formality, MS Srinivasan on 30th January resigned from the board of ONGC in line with his recent appointment as oil secretary.

Srinivasan became the government representative on ONGCs board on 21st November, replacing joint secretary Sunjoy Joshi. No one has yet replaced him but rumours are that it will be either the new additional secretary Anil Razdan, or that Joshi will be re-appointed.

I think Razdan will be appointed, a senior official tells us. Joshis term as joint secretary ends on 31st March.

On 8th February, Razdan was appointed as additional secretary to fill the gap left by Srinivasans promotion to special secretary before he became oil secretary. Before joining the oil ministry, Razdan was Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary (Irrigation) to the Haryana state government.

Born on 7th December 1948, he was joint secretary in the power ministry before moving back to Haryana 2001.
