Cairn Energy is blaming drilling contractors for a 2.5% drop in average oil production from its Ravva oil and gasfield offshore Krishna Godavari.

Cairn tells the DGH average production at Ravva last year was 48,750 b/d - down from the 50,000 b/d target. "Several factors led to the shortfall but most notably was the delay in availability of new wells due to late mobilisation of the drilling rig," notes Cairn.

In March this year Ravva produced on average 54,309 b/d - up 4.4% on the target of 52,000 b/d. The company reports four tanker liftings and an average sale price during March of $22.63 per barrel.

Gas sales from Ravva averaged 1.114m cm/d - 10% more than the 1.097m cm/d expected. A total of 618 personnel work at Ravva, of which 156 are Cairn employees.
