Joshi to succeed Mauskar as Joint Secretary Exploration

Last week the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet confirmed that Sunjoy Joshi would take over as Joint Secretary Exploration when Jayant Mauskar returns to his parent Meghalaya state on 22nd April.

Joshi will hold the post till 31st March 2006. Joshi joined the oil ministry in April 2001 as director exploration.

In March 2003 he was promoted as Joint Secretary and should have moved to the coal ministry in November 2003 as Joint Secretary and Financial Advisor. However, his 1983 IAS colleague Harbhajan Singh got the job leaving Joshi to wait for a vacancy in another ministry.

Joshi enjoys the support of oil minister Ram Naik who insisted that he replace Mauskar. With Joshi stepping into Mauskars place, therell be continuity in the exploration division, reveals a source.

An officer posted from another ministry would need time get familiar with the job.
