OP Singh takes charge as new ONGC dir. tech

Vol 23, PW 11 (09 Apr 20) News in Brief

As expected, Om Prakash Singh was appointed to ONGC's Board on April 1 as new director technology and field services.

More importantly, two other managers took charge of critical business units on the same day. ONGC's Delhi-based onshore engineering services group saw RP Pandey replace earlier head Anand Mohan who retired the previous day.

Pandey was promoted to executive director in January 2020 and was in an earlier role at Bokaro, heading the CBM division as an asset manager. Elsewhere, executive director C Mathavan became asset manager of the Bassein and Satellite fields offshore Mumbai, replacing Suresh Jandial who retired on March 31.

Mathavan was, like Pandey, promoted to executive director in January 2020 and was previously a surface manager at the Mumbai High fields. OP Singh, who replaced NC Pandey as director technology and field services, is a mechanical engineer by training and, within ONGC, he has been a drilling engineer last posted as head of the Tripura asset.

ONGC sources say he is the only eligible director to succeed chairman Shashi Shanker when he retires on March 31 (2021). Singh is also said to have Shanker's full support because of the excellent work he did in a previous role overhauling the Nhava supply base.
