Srivastava wins extension at GSPL

Vol 22, PW 23 (05 Sep 19) News in Brief

Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani has finally relented to pressure and granted a six-month extension to MM Srivastava, chairman of BSE-listed Gujarat State Petronet (GSPL).

PETROWATCH learns Rupani approved Srivastava's extension around August 15, but surprisingly, only for six-months, and not the repeat one-year extensions Srivastava, 67, has been routinely receiving every year since he took over as GSPL chairman on August 24, 2012. On September 24, GSPL's annual general meeting is expected to rubber-stamp a special resolution that endorses Srivastava's pay and conditions for his six-month extension, which ends on February 24, 2020.

Elsewhere in Gandhinagar, the state government controlled Energy and Petrochemicals Department (EPD) will see a full-time principal secretary. Until now Pankaj Joshi, 53, managing director of electricity services company Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam, was holding 'additional charge' of the EPD since February (2019).

That changed on August 30 when he was given full-time charge. "They (the state government) finally realised the EPD is too important a department to be handled only part time," says a Gandhinagar source.

Shahmeena Husain, 47 replaces Joshi as new MD of Gujarat Urja Vikas. She will also hold additional charge of Gujarat Green Revolution Company.
