Vol 22, PW 15 (16 May 19) People & Policy

Seven candidates received PESB letters on May 6 confirming they have been shortlisted for the OVL director operations interviews on May 20.

First on the list is Kripa Shanker Pandey, former chief of OVL subsidiary Imperial Energy who last month was promoted to executive director and transferred to Mumbai as ONGC's new NEELAM and HEERA asset manager from May 15. Next is Alok Kumar Gupta, also promoted to ED last month to head ONGC's business development department.

Gupta worked at OVL for over nine years on projects in Myanmar, Venezuela, Mozambique, Sakhalin, Vietnam, Colombia and Brazil. Third on the list is ONGC group general manager Shailendra Jain from the TRIPURA ASSET where he is project manager with the onshore engineering group.

Jain earlier spent a year and four months at Nazira overseeing the maintenance of all ASSAM ASSET surface facilities. From 2008 till 2013 he worked at OVL on assignments covering Sudan, Syria and Brazil.

Next on the list is Narendra Kumar Garg, ONGC executive director and chief of offshore logistics and earlier operations manager in the offshore drilling division. Based in Mumbai, Garg is close to ONGC director technology and field services NC Pandey and is believed to have spent a "considerable amount" of time networking in Delhi over the last two months.

"If Garg doesn't become OVL director," says an ONGC source, "he will try for Pandey's job when he retires (on March 31, 2020)."
