Adani hires Fugro for Dhamra soil survey

Vol 20, PW 9 (26 Jan 17) News in Brief

Adani Energy has hired Fugro to carry out soil investigation and geotechnical surveys off the Dhamra coast in a further sign its proposed 5m t/y LNG terminal in Orissa is not another phantom project going nowhere.

This is good news for bidders competing for EPC contracts to set up the Dhamra regasification and tank facilities who will soon have access to critical soil and geotechnical data needed to prepare commercially sound bids. A Fugro source confirms the offshore survey has been carried out successfully with the onshore survey underway.

"Adani has asked tank and regas bidders for information on the loads they propose to bring in and the kind of structures they propose to set up," says a source. This information, he adds, will be passed to Fugro so it can prepare its final survey report, expected by Adani at the end of this month (January).

That should give bidders enough time to send in revised price bids by the extended February 10 deadline. Adani completed the last of its technical discussions with bidders for the regas facilities on January 6.
