Another round of HPCL interviews

Vol 19, PW 2 (24 Sep 15) News in Brief

Given the Narendra Modi government’s predilection for skipping interviews and appointing its own candidate directly, some are sceptical about the PESB’s move to call a second round of interviews for the role of HPCL chairman on October 8.

Nonetheless, eight candidates have optimistically sent in CVs by the September 18 deadline. HPCL director (human resources) PK Joshi, GAIL director (projects) Ashutosh Karnatak and HPCL executive directors G.

Ganesh, S Jeyakrishnan, Ajit Singh and VV Rama Narasimham have all re-applied. Two IndianOil executive directors have also applied: Amita Singh and GK Satish.

“IOC director refineries Sanjiv Singh also wanted to apply,” says a source. “But he has been told by the oil ministry not to bother.

” The PESB had on August 6 failed to select a replacement for Nishi Vasudeva, the first female head of a state-owned oil company, who retires on March 31, 2016. None of the nine people interviewed in the first round was found suitable.
