Beware GAIL employment racket

Vol 18, PW 25 (13 Aug 15) News in Brief

You might be desperate for a job at GAIL but be warned: avoid contacting the Institute of Recruitment Training and Promotion Board (IRTPB).

Last month (July) GAIL issued a notice against "unscrupulous agencies and persons fraudulently offering false employment opportunities" after candidates swarmed GAIL offices across India saying they had been offered jobs in the past months. "Information provided regarding job opportunities in GAIL on the website is fake and fabricated," reads GAIL's notice.

"We hereby caution the general public not to fall prey to such dubious advertisements." A GAIL source says IRTPB fraudulently took fees from candidates. "Recruitment at GAIL is carried out centrally through a well-established, transparent selection procedure," writes GAIL.

IRTPB's website claims its clients include ONGC, Oil India, BPCL and HPCL. Attempts to reach IRTPB management failed.
