IOC impatient for Mannur appointment

IndianOil can't afford to have its marketing division headless much longer and company officials are desperately hoping PM Narendra Modi clears the appointment of UV Mannur as its new director marketing soon.

“Modi was busy with the Delhi assembly elections,” says a government source. “But now elections are over.

” In January, IndianOil received a hard knock when it lost a huge diesel supply contract for Indian Railways to Reliance, which offered a Rs1.5/litre ($0.02) discount. IndianOil similarly lost out earlier this month on an ATF supply contract to private airline IndiGo at Kolkata.

All this because its marketing division is headless. Mannur was selected by the PESB on May 26 to replace director marketing M.

Nene who retired on December 31. “I heard the PMO sent Mannur’s file to oil minister Dharmendra Pradhan in January,” we learn.

“Pradhan has changed his mind; he now supports Mannur’s appointment.” Mannur was initially rejected by Pradhan but was over-ruled by home minister Rajnath Singh.
