Debasis Sen wins anti-corruption clearance

Vol 18, PW 1 (28 Aug 14) News in Brief

All obstacles to Debasis Sen’s appointment as IndianOil’s next director business development melted away when the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) granted him anti-corruption clearance on August 14.

Sen should have stepped into his new job in early September following AMK Sinha’s retirement on July 31. Sen was selected after PESB interviews on January 24 but his file was held up at the CVC after a fictitious letter alleged he had sold promotions for bribes.

“There were many complaints against Sen, but the CVC found no evidence,” says an oil ministry officer. “The oil minister (Dharmendra Pradhan) approved his appointment on August 21.

” Sen’s file has now been sent to the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) from where it should move to the PMO, where it may take another week to get signed. One of Sen’s biggest priorities in the new post is to push forward the company’s stalled Ennore LNG project.
