PNGRB authorises APGDC gas pipeline

Vol 17, PW 22 (19 Jun 14) News in Brief

GAIL and Seemandhra state LNG joint venture Andhra Pradesh Gas Distribution Corporation (APGDC) won PNGRB authorisation to lay a 275-km gas pipeline from Kakinada to Srikakulam, both in Seemandhra, on June 5.

The pipeline will have diameters ranging from 18 to 24-inches and will cost Rs1000cr ($166m). “We're now trying to reach financial closure,” says APGDC.

APGDC floated a tender for a detailed route survey on May 23 before receiving authorisation and has extended the bid deadline from June 20 to early July. “Since we're setting up a FSRU in Kakinada,” says a source, “this pipeline will help us supply gas to Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam.

” The 20m cm/d capacity pipeline will connect to Reliance's East-West Pipeline with a ‘tap-off’ at GAIL’s network at Kakinada and Petronet-LNG's proposed east coast Gangavaram LNG terminal.
