ONGC's $100m broadband 3D tender

Vol 17, PW 19 (08 May 14) News in Brief

WesternGeco, CGGVeritas and PGS are the likely bidders in the latest edition of ONGC’s first ever 3D broadband tender.

ONGC wants to acquire and process 3960-sq km data on the western periphery of Mumbai High by 2016. Bids must be in by May 13 for the estimated $100m contract.

This is a larger version of last year’s tender where CGG was lowest bidder to shoot and process 2000-sq km broadband 3D, quoting $67m when price bids were opened on December 20, 2013. ONGC scrapped that tender as CGG wouldn’t lower its price.

“Broadband 3D has been around since 2006,” we hear, but ONGC has yet to award a contract!” Tender documents were available on ONGC’s website from April 15 to April 25. But a source close to ONGC says others are unlikely to bid as ONGC prequalified Western, CGG and PGS for the earlier tender.

Bidders must have shot and processed 5000-sq km 3D and done one broadband job in the past five years.
