No time to waste: ONGC seismic
ONGC is racing to finalise a tender to hire seismic contractors to shoot 2D and 3D in the season beginning October 2024.
"ONGC should open the price bids any day now," says a source. "The work has to begin by mid-October."
On May 10 (2024), ONGC invited offers with a June 28 (2024) bid deadline. When ONGC opened technical bids on July 1 (2024), three contractors were in the race: Norwegian companies Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS) and Shearwater GeoServices and a Russian company Sovcomflot Geo (SCF Geo).
ONGC wants the contractors to complete shooting the 2D and 3D in the field season from October 2024 to May 2025. Contractors must begin work by October 16 (2024) or within 75 days of the LoA, whichever is earlier.
In Sector-1, ONGC wants to shoot 1600-sq km of long-offset broadband 3D at the OALP-8 block MB-OSHP-2022/1 in the Mumbai offshore. Also included is 2740-sq km of long-offset broadband 3D at OALP-8 block GS-DWHP-2022/1 in the Saurashtra basin.
In Sector-2, ONGC wants to shoot 1680-lkm of long-offset broadband 2D and 3350-sq km of broadband 3D at OALP-8 block KK-OSHP-2022/1 in the Kerala Konkan basin. This sector also includes shooting 980-sq km of broadband 3D at the OALP-8 block KK-DWHP-2022/1 in the Kerala Konkan basin.
In Sector-3, ONGC wants to shoot 710-sq km broadband 3D at the OALP-3 block MN-DWHP-2018/1 in the Mahanadi basin. At the OALP-8 block MN-UDWHP-2022/1, ONGC wants to shoot 508-lkm of 2D and 3350-sq km of 3D.
In Sector-4, ONGC plans to shoot 2244-sq km broadband 3D at the OALP-8 block BP-OSHP-2022/1 in the Bengal-Purnea basin.
