Here’s something to tell the children: studying for a career in the oil and gas sector pays off.

PETROWATCH learns 160 fresh graduates from the Pandit Deen Dayal Petroleum University (PDPU) in Ahmedabad have landed high-paying jobs at companies like Accenture, Essar, GSPC, HOEC, Adani, Sabarmati Gas, Punj Lloyd, Jindal, L&T, and Gujarat Gas. Top pay packages for the university’s first-ever graduating class ranged from Rs9 lakh/year ($18,123) to Rs10 lakh/year ($20,307) offered by ONGC, Engineers India, HMEL and Oil India.

Halliburton, Jubilant and GeoEnpro offered pay packages closer to Rs8.5 lakh/year ($17,262). “Reliance also picked up a couple of our engineers for their KG operations,” boasts a PDPU source.

PDPU, he adds, organised 25 campus recruitment events between August and September this year. “We are proud as 160 placements is the highest figure from any Indian university specialising in petroleum engineering,” we learn.
