BGآ’s Nigel Shaw takes over as Mahanagar Gas chairman

British Gas India chief Nigel Shaw has been appointed as the new chairman of Mahanagar Gas, BGs city gas distribution joint venture with GAIL in Mumbai.

Shaw takes over from GAIL chairman Proshanto Banerjee on 28th May.Under the terms of the joint venture, the chairman of Mahanagar Gas alternates every two years between the chiefs of both companies.

PETROWATCH learns that Shaws role as head of Mahanagar Gas will be a short one as his time in India draws to a close and his role as BG India chief officially ends on 30th June. Shaw will return to BG headquarters at Reading in the UK and will soon after take up his new assignment as chief of BGs North West Europe business.

Bill Adamson, current head of the North West Europe business, will replace Shaw in India. Bill and Nigel are swapping roles, reveals a source.

Adamson will take over from Shaw on 1st July 2005.
