BG wants a third distribution company "anywhere in India"

British Gas wants to set up a third gas distribution company in India in addition to the two it already has: Mahanagar Gas, a 50-50 joint venture with GAIL with its head office in Mumbai, and Gujarat Gas a majority-owned subsidiary in Ahmedabad.

Petrowatch learns the third company could be "anywhere in India" and fits into the company's strategy of expanding its gas distribution in India. Separately, Petrowatch learns that Ross Stobie finishes his term as head of BG India after a two year stint and is returning to the United Kingdom in September this year.

He'll be replaced by Nigel Shaw, who is in charge of BG operations in Northern Ireland.
