Eight companies have sent in pre-qualification documents hoping to receive a tender to set up a 312,000 t/y gasoline hydrodesulphurisation unit worth about Rs300cr ($44.5m) at IndianOil's Bongaigaon refinery in Assam.

By the extended July 21 deadline, IOC received prequalification documents from CTCI, Larsen & Toubro, Toyo Engineering, Essar Projects, Punj Lloyd, IndianOil Tanking, Technip and The 13th Construction Company of China National Chemical Engineering. IOC and its consultant ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions will now select qualified companies before issuing a tender end-August.

Meanwhile IOC is expected to issue a new scope of work document outlining technical changes to its requirements for offsites and utilities at Bongaigaon. Companies will have a month to send in prequalification documents, extended from the earlier July 21 deadline.

CTCI, L&T, EIL with Offshore Infrastructures, Essar, Punj Lloyd and Technip sent in prequalification documents on July 1 for a Fluidised Catalytic Cracking Unit at the refinery.
