IOC wants FCCU at Bongaigaon

Vol 20, PW 1 (22 Sep 16) News in Brief

IndianOil wants bids by October 21 to set up a 740,000 t/y Fluidised Catalytic Cracking Unit and a LPG treatment facility at its Bongaigaon refinery in Assam.

Tender documents were sent out on September 9 to short-listed bidders CTCI, L&T, Essar Projects, Punj Lloyd and Technip. Surprisingly IOC disqualified a consortium of Engineers India and Offshore Infrastructures, earlier considered a strong contender.

"The disqualification was probably because the consortium had no experience," says a source. Meanwhile six companies have qualified for another set of tenders expected in October to set up a 312,000 t/y gasoline hydro-desulphurisation unit and associated facilities: CTCI, L&T, Toyo Engineering, Essar Projects, Punj Lloyd, and Technip.

IOC and project consultant ThyssenKrupp disqualified IndianOil Tanking and The 13th Construction Company of China National Chemical Engineering. For a third set of tenders for 'offsites and utilities', IOC is evaluating prequalification documents sent in by 13 companies on August 8.
