Gas for Mathura

Vol 14, PW 20 (07 Apr 11) News in Brief

Saumya DSM will next week begin drawing R-LNG from GAIL for its retail gas network at Mathura city in Uttar Pradesh.

PETROWATCH learns Saumya will begin drawing up to 5000 cm/d of R-LNG from April 12 at its ‘city gate station’ at Chhatta village from GAIL’s ‘tap-off’ point on the 610-km pipeline from Dahej in Gujarat to Vijaipur in Madhya Pradesh. “We hope to be selling over 10,000 cm/d of gas in Mathura within a month,” says a company source.

Until now, Saumya has been buying 4000-kg/day of CNG from fellow Uttar Pradesh-based retail gas player Green Gas, which it sells as piped gas to 400 households in the city. By April 10, Saumya will also begin selling CNG to Mathura auto-rickshaws and cars from two CNG stations.

It expects to have its third under-construction CNG station ready by June and has already laid 45-km of steel pipe in the city to supply gas to factories and businesses.
