Jubilant LNG

Until now it was thought Delhi-based Jubilant Energy was firmly focused on E&P.

But no longer, it seems. PETROWATCH learns the Bhartia-owned explorer - with three exploration blocks in the northeast and a stake in the producing Kharsang field - is exploring opportunities in the world of spot LNG trading and imports.

Last week several surprised end-users of R-LNG in Gujarat, among them Essar Steel and NTPC, received letters from Jubilant asking for hardcore operational data on their R-LNG requirements, consumption patterns and supply sources. Contacted by this report, Jubilant confirmed the new development.

“Jubilant Energy’s board constantly discusses and explores new commercial opportunities, including LNG trading and LNG sales,” said a spokesman. “An appropriate announcement will be made once a clear steer is provided by the board.

” Jubilant also holds 10% in the Deen Dayal gasfield and shares a Cauvery basin block with GAIL and GSPC.
