Ministry rejects DGH plan to relocate to Noida

Vol 9, PW 6 (30 Jun 05) News in Brief

Oil ministry officials are believed to have killed a proposal by the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons to relocate itself to the Delhi suburb of Noida.

Presently, the DGH occupies several floors of the Hindustan Times building in Delhis central business district Connaught Place. We understand the proposal was to shift all the offices of DGH to two floors of the Express Towers building in Noida.

The file was moved to the ministry about a month ago, reveals a source. But they rejected it.

The ministrys argument is that it needs to personally interact with DGH officials about six or seven times a day and Noida even though connected by an expressway that has cut travelling time to 30 minutes is too far away. Shastri Bhawan, seat of the oil ministry is also located in central Delhi.

People working in DGH would have welcomed the shift as nearly three quarters of them stay in and around Noida.
