CGGVeritas and Bergen Oilfield Services have won contracts in Reliance’s much delayed tender to shoot 9600-km 3D across its Krishna Godavari and Mahanadi basin NELP exploration blocks.

PETROWATCH learns Reliance chose CGGVeritas in mid-July to shoot nearly 6400-sq km of 3D, and Bergen to shoot another 3200-sq km. “Both CGG and Bergen will mobilise boats for Reliance by November when the monsoon season ends,” says an industry source.

CGG, he adds, could deploy either Viking-II or Geo Voyager for the job while Bergen will use BOS Arctic. “Both companies could shoot nearly 1200-sq km a month using eight streamers of up to 8-km length.

CGG can finish its work in about six months while Bergen could take approximately four months.” Reliance issued this tender for 9600-sq km of 3D back in January and was widely criticised for its delay in making a decision after bids were submitted by Bergen, Polarcus, CGG, WesternGeco and PGS on February 15.
